How we think

Energy, cost and carbon move together.

Every organisation sits inside the same triangle. Use less energy and your costs fall with your emissions. Ignore it, and rising prices and compliance risk arrive together. We manage all three points as one job, starting from the one your board actually watches: cost.

  • ENERGYMetered, monitored and managed. You cannot reduce what you do not measure.
  • COSTEvery recommendation we make carries a payback figure, not a promise.
  • CARBONFalls out of the first two, and compliance reporting becomes a by-product, not a project.
The reality

Most sites leak money quietly.

Energy spend rarely fails loudly. It leaks. A mis-billed charge here, a meter nobody reads there, a compliance deadline left to the final quarter. This is where we start.

01

Bills paid unchecked

Supplier billing errors are common, and rarely in your favour. Without line-by-line validation against contract and meter data, overcharges simply become cost.

02

Consumption nobody measures

You cannot reduce what you do not measure. Sites without metering, monitoring and targeting carry waste as baseline load, year after year.

03

Compliance left late

The Environment Agency has fined more than 160 organisations for missing ESOS Phase 3, at an average of around £24,000 each. Phase 4 is already running.

Compliance deadline

ESOS Phase 4 reporting is due by 5 December 2027.

If your organisation employs 250 or more people, or turns over £44m with a £38m balance sheet, you are in scope and the clock is already running. There are two routes to compliance: an ESOS energy audit, or ISO 50001 certification. We deliver both, as a registered ESOS Lead Assessor.

Enforcement is real. Phase 3 fines have already passed £3.9 million, and assessor capacity tightens as every deadline approaches. Starting early costs less and risks nothing.

About Ensure

Run by an energy manager, not a salesman.

Ensure Energy Consultancy was founded by Richard Capper, a Chartered Energy Manager who has spent 20 years running energy inside FTSE 250 manufacturing businesses. We have held the budgets, owned the meters and answered to the board, so our advice is built to survive contact with a factory floor, not just look good in a slide deck.

We work nationally, we are fully independent, and we do not sell energy, we manage it.
